Intro to Permaculture & Permaculture Design Certification Courses in Bethlehem, Connecticut in cooperation with The Hidden Garden & Connsoil
For the first time in Northwestern Connecticut, the
Hidden Garden and Connsoil, LLC and The Center for Bioregional Living, are
offering lectures and courses on Permaculture. Permaculture is a
worldwide movement that is growing and attracting professionals from many
disciplines who want to learn how to integrate a holistic approach to
knowledge into their professional practice or their personal lives.
Introduction to Permaculture - 15 December 2009
INTRODUCTION TO PERMACULTURE LECTURE: Permaculture is a whole systems
ecological design science. It offers insights and practical techniques
for living a fruitful and abundant life while addressing the major issues
of our day. Permaculture has become a world-wide movement and is an
important tool for change in urban, suburban and rural environments. In
the introductory lecture, Andrew Faust, New York’s visionary leader in
Permaculture design and education, will explain fundamentals of
Permaculture and outline the essentials of creating true health and wealth
through the design of ecological communities and businesses, with
practical ideas and solutions to transform your “green” dreams into
reality.

PERMACULTURE DESIGN CERTIFICATION COURSE: In this course, main
instructor, Andrew Faust, will provide participants with an understanding
of the essential principles and elements of Permaculture, enabling them to
better design and engineer sustainable systems including edible landscapes
and forest gardens, energy efficient and green buildings, greenhouses, and
more. You will learn about the essential elements of Permaculture, and
cover topics essential to every Permaculturist’s development: soil
structure and health, to the invisible structures of our economy and
society. The curriculum includes: climate, energy and food, conservation
techniques, long-term approaches to soils, water systems and waste,
rethinking economics and more.
Also covered in this course will be the evolution of agriculture,
Biodynamic agriculture and orchard fruit and berry cultivation, natural
history of Eastern woodlands, watershed health, the integration of animals
into cultivated ecosystems, indoor mushroom cultivation and solar oven
construction, and passive solar and natural building techniques.
